I had the privilege of seeing my friend’s solo comedy special at the theater, and I’m still thinking about it days later. Centered on her years-long journey of trying to get pregnant—with all its heartbreak, absurdity, and emotional landmines—the show was equal parts hilarious and moving.
What she managed to do on stage was nothing short of extraordinary: she took something so personal and vulnerable and transformed it into a story that felt universally relatable. There were belly laughs. There were moments where the entire audience held its breath.
