About the Show

Some people are told to dream big. Nadeen was told to dream carefully.

Bronx-born, raised by her Puerto Rican grandparents while her teenage mother figured out life. Taught that education was survival, and that a girl like her should be grateful for what she had and careful about wanting more.

She wanted more anyway.

The little girl who couldn’t get dance lessons grew up to choreograph for and dance beside the giants of Latin music. She performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages and moved in circles she was never supposed to enter. That wasn’t supposed to happen to a girl from her block.

And yet, there she was.

Then life happened the way it does: loud, uninvited, and with no directions. Suddenly she was at a crossroads. Single mother. Starting over. Trying to figure out what comes next when everything you built looks nothing like what you planned.

Her answer? A Class A commercial driver’s license. 

What follows is one woman, fifteen characters, and three generations of advice that will make you laugh, break your heart, and make you question everything you thought you knew about where you come from and who you’re allowed to become. And you’ll meet abuelita, who made sure Nadeen never forgot the most important lesson of all: keeping good credit.

This isn’t a wholesome story. It’s an honest one. And if you’ve ever been told your dreams were too big for where you came from, if you’ve ever had to talk your way out of a jam, reinvent yourself from scratch, or keep going when the road disappeared beneath you…
