It's All A Joke

This was by far one of the best one-woman plays I’ve ever seen. From the moment Marissa touched the stage, the writing had the audience hooked — the jokes landed effortlessly, keeping us laughing from start to finish. But this show was so much more than a laugh riot. Marissa took us on a true emotional rollercoaster, allowing us to empathize deeply with the character and witness her growth in real time. The stage work was impeccable — every scene was crystal clear, vividly etched into the collect... full review

I've only seen one one-woman show prior to seeing 'It's All a Joke' starring Marissa Fennell. It was ok... not really my speed. So naturally I was a little skeptical on what I'd get with this show. This show blew my mind!!! I didn't know watching one person on stage for 90 minutes could hold my attention. Marissa did just that! Her ability to tell her story, make us laugh, cry... and then laugh again was masterful to say the least. I'm sad to see the short run as I now want to share and bring oth... full review

“It’s all extraordinary and original”, that should be the subtitle of this show. “It’s all a Joke” a time stamp of irrevocable humor, joy and masterfully written material. Not one show I’ve seen (specially a one woman show) be this clear, hysterical, emotionally creative, and proficient while being funny, AND THATS JUST THE FIRST 5 MINUTES. This incredible rollercoaster, generates crazy endorphins in you that keeps you fully engaged desiring and eager to see whats next?! It’s written and perfor... full review

Normally with a one woman show, it is a difficult task to hold the attention of an audience for an entire hour. Marissa Fennell didn’t struggle for a second with that. The show was funny and real. It had effortless transitions between the storyline and the stand-up which was an inner monologue. She created an entire world with minimal props and her transitions between characters was seamless. It was incredibly funny and opening with David Hardy’s stand-up set really set the show up in a hilarious... full review

It's All a Joke is one of the most entertaining hours I've spent in the theater. It's part standup, part characters, and a lot of laughs. Marissa does an excellent job of keeping the audience engaged as she navigates the apocalypse with a sense of humor. Underneath the laughs, there is a heartfelt, deeper message--when the world ends, what gifts do we share with each other? For Marissa, it's laughter, the most healing gift of all. Her talented husband, David Hardy, opens the show with his hi... full review

As a Clinical Psychologist and a bereaved mother with lived experience, I found Alice’s show profoundly relatable — I wanted to cry, laugh and scream, often within the span of just a few minutes. Her storytelling captures the raw, complex reality of reproductive journeys with honesty and passion. This isn’t just a show for those who have faced infertility or baby loss; it’s a powerful experience for anyone who has navigated their own path to parenthood.... full review

“Inconceivable,” Alice Cutler’s story of her and her husband’s (Vince Giovanni, also the very talented director) years-long efforts to have a baby, was heartbreaking yet filled with humor that prompted many smiles and often bursts of laughter. She took the audience vividly through their painful and sometimes dehumanizing infertility treatments. She deftly brought us into her world not only as a patient but also as a vulnerable but strong woman, enhanced by winsome images from her past projected o... full review

Alice Cutler has created a funny, moving show from a wealth of personal experience with infertility as well as the seldom discussed topic of abortion for medical reasons. Many, many women (and the partners of those women) can relate, but even those who, luckily, have had no such experience will laugh and cry as Alice takes them on her journey. ... full review

Knowing Alice for over 20 years, I had the privilege of seeing her grow as an artist and a human being. This show was a culmination of joy, sadness, honestly, reality and life all rolled up into a ball of amazing artistry. We watched someone who had to go through one of the most difficult things possible and have the courage to leave it all out on the field for us, as they say. She used her pain to create a very entertaining, poignant and thought provoking show that I'm still thinking about a wee... full review

Alice knocked it out of the park in her solo show, INCONCEIVABLE. Her show struck the perfect balance of humor, vulnerability, depth, and education. I am someone immersed in politics and current events, so I was pleasantly surprised to learn things I did not know about a subject matter with which I was somewhat familiar. I highly recommend this show!... full review

I had the privilege of seeing my friend’s solo comedy special at the theater, and I’m still thinking about it days later. Centered on her years-long journey of trying to get pregnant—with all its heartbreak, absurdity, and emotional landmines—the show was equal parts hilarious and moving. What she managed to do on stage was nothing short of extraordinary: she took something so personal and vulnerable and transformed it into a story that felt universally relatable. There were belly laughs. Ther... full review

Having seen Alice's hilarious comedy routines, I wasn't quite sure what to expect from "Inconceivable," a show about her personal journey through infertility and pregnancy loss. What unfolded was an engrossing story that flipped through perfectly segued snippets & visuals of her life and the backstory leading up to dealing with unimaginable loss. Alice managed to take us through the highs and lows with laughter and rawness but just as my eyes would begin to well up, she would whisk us forward, n... full review

In Inconceivable, Alice Cutler strikes a heartfelt balance of comedy and can-you-fucking-believe-it calamity to challenge what you think you know about abortion, conception, and what it means to be a parent. The subject matter (along with Alice’s physical comedy, hysterical in its accuracy) will be instantly relatable to fertility adventurers who have embarked on the IVF journey and awe-inspiring for audience members who are being introduced to the process through the show. Punchy bits of Alice’s... full review
