We’re collecting new tennis shoes for the incredible students of Pasadena Rosebud Academy, a school tragically lost in the recent Edin Fire. Though their classrooms burned, their spirits remain unshaken. These young scholars have shown resilience, heart, and hope in the face of unimaginable loss—and we want to walk beside them, one generous step at a time.
Here’s how you can help: Bring new tennis shoes (sizes 10T-13) to the show to support the students as they continue their journey of learning, growth, and healing. We will be hand delivering the shoes to the students later this month. *Can’t make the show. Contact Kathryn for after the show donations details.
Because whether it’s Skid Row or a schoolyard—everyone deserves dignity, comfort, and care. Not because they’ve lost everything. But because they are everything.

MOREABOUTTHESHOW:
Join Ester, an omniscient shoe whisperer, as she walks us through a day in her life on Skid Row. We meet a vagabond of characters: a transgender teen, a young mom, a mentally ill substance abuser, a high school valedictorian, a police officer, concerned citizens at a city council meeting and others. "A Mile in My Shoes” is a Poetic Dramedy (mix of poetry, drama & comedy) and consciousness-raising theater. Creator Kathryn Taylor Smith portrays 19 characters inspired by research and personal interviews with past and present members of the homeless community as well as those who advocate for them. This socially conscious and socially relevant piece speaks to the audience from a raw, uncensored, unapologetic perspective. It will compel you to do more, to be better & to act kinder to your homeless brethren; not because they are homeless, but simply because they are human and “There but for the grace of God go I.” Directed by Zadia Ife.
