All of the above – her voice, her set, her timing, her beauty, her vulnerability! About love, regret, work, honesty and the reality of chasing one’s dreams!
What I didn't like
I wish it were two hours – but that would be pretty exhausting for Kim! So well directed too – and the photos and set really connected the piece to my heart.
My overall impression
Reality Check by Kim Clevenger deserved the standing ovation she received. It was humorous, deep, thoughtful, and clever. I laughed – guffawed actually at times and also had tears in my eyes. Kim’s physicality, singing voice, stage presence and heart – made it a performance I could believe in. I would see it again and again. Plus her singing voice is beautiful – as is she. I walked away with a greater understanding of the power of the one-person show. Run, don’t walk (but watch out for cars!) to see this and anything else Kim performs wherever and whenever! I walked away saying to myself – I wish I were as talented!
