About the Show

A Gay Masseur’s Guide to Happy Endings is a 55-minute solo play that mixes stand-up, confession, and queer theatre in the vein of Fleabag. It follows AJ, a gay actor/masseur in his thirties, as he navigates a series of outrageous encounters with clients, lovers, and strangers. Along the way, he finds himself slipping between roles — while trying to figure out where performance ends and intimacy begins.

The show is raunchy and sharply funny, full of stories that veer from absurd comedy to moments of startling vulnerability. But beneath the wild anecdotes lies something deeper: a portrait of loneliness, the hunger to be desired, and the precarious search for connection in a world where everything feels transactional.

A Gay Masseur’s Guide to Happy Endings had a sold-out workshop run at Provincetown’s Red Room and was enthusiastically received by audiences and artists alike. The script was also recognized with a fellowship at a really expensive MFA Program, which the playwright ultimately turned down to continue developing it.
