Lemur Mom is a dynamic one person show written by and starring Megan Dolan. It is a special needs comedy that explores with warmth, humor, and brutal honesty, one mother’s adventures in autism.
Almost immediately after giving birth to her son, Megan has the distinct feeling that she’s not doing it right. As she navigates the treacherous world of support groups, child psychologists, and playdates for a child on the spectrum, making what feels like countless wrong turns along the way—she ultimately discovers that though she may feel she’s not the right mom, in reality, she’s exactly the right mom.
After viewing the show during its initial run, New York Times bestselling author Anne Lamott said, “This show has everything I love – humor, humanity, and heart.”
Megan Dolan is a Long Beach-based mother/writer/actor/storyteller who has performed at The Moth, the Hollywood Fringe Festival, and as part of “Expressing Motherhood.” Her written work has been published in LA Parent Magazine. Megan’s TEDx talk, “Messy Mommy: A Slob in the Shadows,” can be seen on YouTube. That digital presence became even more important when the pandemic brought her planned Lemur Mom Tour to a halt for three years. She is thrilled to be back telling this engaging, heartfelt story.
